i believe that the ideal for beauty is internalized. you either know you are beautiful or not. others know based upon what we are raised to believe what true beauty is (media/the ideal type etc..) but when looking in the mirror, you stare. stare for a while. study each rise and fall and every tiny facet of your face and the shadow it plays from the angle of lighting. no other light position can make your face look like that. no other person, identical twin or not, looks the way you do to the umpteenth degree. miles upon thousands of miles of DNA strands that make up our genetic structure going back to the dawn of man and before, made that face; CARVED that face from the clay of genetic material and formed it with age and shape to fit to your head. how can people not be beautiful. even the ugliest of faces contain some sort of profound beauty to them when you think of the way it is and how it is.
yes. someone is going to think you are ugly. thats cool. not everyone will. your face is the missing puzzle piece to someones ideal type. that mask that you wear coated in freckles and eyes and nose and eyebrows and lashes. that yours. that is so yours its your identity. it is you. how can you not like you if you are the one person who spends every sleeping and waking moment with yourself. how can one think themselves ugly.
well we can. and this brings me waaay back before this tangent: you cant think you are horrid or beautiful to others without first believing yourself beautiful or ugly. which is blatantly obvious. you create your image of beauty off of what you see yourself. and what your see of yourself is different to others because of our lack of sensory… accuracy…
beauty based off of media portrayals coincides what, usually is regarded as the “genetic superior” idea that way back when finding a mate that had no problems was based off of physic and structure. im butchering the wording here but to explain: women with curves and thin= able to produce offspring and provide care and safety. big bulky guys= healthy and caretakerish role. all pointing to fertility. (please forgive my terrible way with words) Facial balance indicates fertility/genetic problems and etc. anyway. media portrayals: skinny and muscly. women should be skinny and fair faced and men should be cut and everyone should be perfect ideal effecting our personal outlooks: it all comes from external justification. others say this because others say this. but im tangenting again to weight. fat people were regarded as beautiful in the feaudal ages because of monetary wealth and amount of food consumption…ANYWAY.
how can we say what beauty is if we base it off of this misconstrued, always changing, and unstable perspective that stems from not personal belief but what is taught. i mean we eat this shit up. i do. you do. we all do. we see an attractive somebody and drool. now stop and think. why. structure of face and body. simple shapes formed to complex ones based off of sense and light and im trailing again.
people. are beautiful. regardless of what we are told and taught and hammered in. self conscious in this world is inhumane because we take a human concept and misconstrue it to something separate. beauty is the search for perfection which is unattainable.
the unattainable is what makes us self conscious. the fact that we cannot achieve the what isnt meant to be held.
some of us however do not need the external justification. instead lack the confidence and internal justification to produce a beautiful image of ourselves in our mind. we dont need people to tell us whether or not we are beautiful, but we need to be the ones to look in the mirror and stare at the incomparable beauty that is individually and uniquely you
not enough is a mentality that you have the ability to change. as hard as it is, it can be done and even faked. confidence dwells in the illusion of the “greater than” complex. its an illusion that harms us all.
